Sumaya Tabbah is a research assistant with the Crisis, Conflict and Arms Division. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, she worked as an Arabic translator on topics including refugees, prison literature, and media in conflict zones. She has a particular interest in Russia-Middle East relations and has experience working in government and with think tanks. She holds an M.A. in international peace and conflict resolution with a focus on reconciliation and justice, and a B.A. in political science. She speaks English, Arabic, and Russian.
