Nathalye Cotrino

Nathalye Cotrino is a researcher in the Crisis, Conflict and Arms Division at Human Rights Watch. She has researched and written reports about armed conflict-related abuses, repression against demonstrators, and attacks on the rule of law, among other issues.

Nathalye joined Human Rights Watch in January 2020 as a Senior Research Assistant with the Americas Division, where she documented human rights abuses in often challenging security contexts and contributed to numerous publications on Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Haiti, Peru, and Bolivia.

She previously worked as a consultant with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia and as a prosecutor and criminal investigations coordinator with the Colombian Attorney General’s office, where she investigated war crimes committed by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and other armed groups.

Nathalye has a law degree and master’s degrees in human rights and international relations from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, and Sciences Po in Paris.
