Betty Kabari

Betty Kabari is a researcher in the Women’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch. She is a feminist and a practicing lawyer in Kenya with 7 years’ post-qualification experience. She is passionate about equality for all- both in law and practice- and has over 5 years’ experience in legal and policy research and advocacy geared towards the recognition and protection of women and girls’ rights. Her experience has been focused on advocating for equal access to quality, acceptable sexual and reproductive health services and information particularly with regards to contraception, comprehensive sexuality education, maternal health and comprehensive safe abortion care. She has worked at the Center for Reproductive Rights, Amnesty International Kenya and Equality Now. She has also worked as a free-lance consultant on projects relating to diverse human rights issues including counter-trafficking in persons and social risk management in development projects.
